Question about fishing?

me and my brother are going fishing tommorow it will be our first time and i thought of a problem.so when i throw the hook into the sea the hooks fall to the bottom of the sea and i think that because of the weight on the line all the hooks will go to the bottom and lye on the floor so no fish will bite.is there a way to balance it ?
