Is choosing the wrong category really such an egregious mistake?

I'm new to YA. I recently asked a question and inadvertently checked the wrong radio button for the category. Two people answered the question but many others did nothing more than chastise me about the category. While none of their responses rose to the level of YA abuse, I was offended. I'm a few days shy of having spent 68 years on this planet, have two college degrees, have lived in three different countries and traveled extensively in over 20 others. I believe that I have quite a lot to contribute to YA but I'm thinking that perhaps I'll just say to heck with it. Is there some unwritten protocol of which I am unaware that says one is not allowed to make mistakes? So someone looks in their favorite category and finds a question that does not belong there. Why don't they just ignore it? To me, these people are like the mean kids in elementary school. Ha ha, you wet your pants.
